Baby Hugs Bear (often abbreviated "Hugs"), is a Care Bear cub. She made her first animated appearance in the 1984 television special The Care Bears Battle the Freeze Machine, and has since popped up in nearly every future incarnation of the series. She has baby pink fur and her Belly badge was originally a yellow Starbuddy peeking out of a pink heart, which was changed to a plain yellow star the middle of a pink heart beginning with the 2007-2008 Adventures in Care-a-Lot series.
Sweet, curious, and loving, Baby Hugs has all the makings of a full-fledged future Care Bear. Almost never seen without her brother Tugs, the two always seem to get themselves into crazy situations thanks to their boundless curiosity and playful attitudes. Watching them is practically a full-time job, but it's one that Grams Bear is more than happy to fulfill. Hugs' catchphrase in the original series is "Oh, goody, goody gosh!".
She has had slight design changes over the years, sporting a small pink bow in her first appearance in Care Bears Battle the Freeze Machine, and wears a heart barrette in her hair in Adventures in Care-a-Lot.
Original series
She is also the main character in the episode "A Day Without Tugs" where she plays with her shadow that talks though her brother is a little sick.
Descriptions
2002-2006: Baby Hugs Bear is a sweet and loving little girl Care Bear. She's very affectionate and gives hugs to everyone. She's also very curious and often gets into mischief. Her symbol, a smiling star coming out of a heart, shows her outgoing, loving nature.
Notes
- Though it is never directly stated that Hugs and her brother Tugs are twins, it is revealed that the two do have the same birthday in the Care Bears Family episode "The Most Ancient Gift".
- Her redesigned Belly Badge is meant to be a reverse of Tugs', with a small star inside a large heart instead of a starbuddy peeking out of a large open heart.
- She tags along with her twin brother and her Grandmother.
- In the Care Bears movie and series with the spanish dubbing, she's called ''Bebeosita'' (Baby Bear), later in the 2007, she goes by the name ''Mimosa'' (Cuddly), and finally in 2012 they called her ''Abrazosita'' (Hugs Bear).
